Stem Splitter

The Studio mixer

One row per stem with solo, mute, a fader and a pan knob, a timeline you can loop, and a transport bar. Everything the Studio does, plus the keyboard shortcuts.

Solo the vocals, mute the drums, pull the bass down. The song keeps playing while you work.

#The mixer rows

Each stem: name, fader, Solo, Mute, pan.
ControlWhat it does
FaderVolume for that stem. Drag it; the waveform on the right dims as you pull it down.
S (Solo)Hear only this stem. Solo several to build a partial mix. Solo wins over Mute.
M (Mute)Silence this stem. Mute the vocals and you have a karaoke track; mute your own instrument and you have a backing track.
Pan knobPlace the stem left or right. Handy for putting the part you are learning in one ear.
Master volumeThe speaker slider at the bottom right controls the whole mix without changing your stem balance. On phones the hardware volume takes over.

#The timeline

Bars are numbered along the top, in the song's own tempo. Click anywhere to jump. Drag across the waveforms to select a region; the selection snaps to beats, solos the stems you dragged over, and becomes a loop with one more click. That is the core of practising a tricky passage, and it has its own page. Waveforms are colour-coded per stem and go dashed where the stem is silent, which is a quick way to see where the vocals actually are.

#The transport bar

Loop, play, reset, scrubber and master volume, with Send to Mastering and Export on the right.
  • Play / pause in the middle. Space does the same.
  • Start Loop cycles through Start, Close and Clear as you set the two loop points; Reset clears solo, mute, faders, pan, loop, tempo and pitch back to the original.
  • Send to Mastering hands your loop, stem selection or mix to AI Mastering. Web only.
  • Export opens the download dialog. Export and download.

#Keyboard shortcuts

The shortcut list is one click away at the top left of the mixer.

#Header controls

Across the top: Start Loop, the detected tempo (opens Adjust BPM), the detected key (opens Pitch Shift), Chords and Lyrics panels, the stem count menu, the Hi-Fi switch, and the menu with your projects and account. The SEPARATE badge under Drums opens drum separation.

Do my solo, mute and fader settings save?

They are kept while the Studio is open and used when you export a mix. Tempo and pitch are session-only too. Nothing is written back to the project, so a reload starts you clean.

Why is the metronome muted?

It starts muted at 40 percent volume so the song sounds like the song. Unmute it when you want a click that follows the original tempo map.
