Engine v4 and v3.6

Two mastering engines. What changed in v4, why v3.6 is still there, and how to switch.

#Switching engines

The engine choice is at the top of the popover behind the v4 | 70% pill.

Click the pill at the top left of the workspace and choose Engine v4 or v3.6, then Save. The choice applies to the revisions you render from then on and is remembered for your next upload. Each revision shows the engine it was made with in the Revision Info panel.

v4 is the engine we build on: it renders faster and it is where new features land first. It was tuned to sound the same as v3.6 on balanced settings, so switching should not surprise you; a few extreme option combinations differ slightly. If you have an old project that sounds exactly right on v3.6, there is no reason to touch it.
